Inventory
All our vinyl records and compact disks are vintage, sometimes rare and hard to find. This means that you are purchasing a used item that is pre-owned. Our stock includes original classical recordings from the 1950’s to the 2000’s. Occasionally we offer vintage records in original shrink-wrap but this is not a guarantee they are perfect.
Condition
Condition is highly subjective and therefore grading viewpoints can vary – we do not grade each record due to the volume of stock and subjectivity involved. Sleeves and boxes may include age marks and those from use. It is generally true that classical records have less of a hard life than say a 1970’s Led Zeppelin record and therefore are frequently in good to excellent condition. We try very hard not to sell any unplayable (scratched) records. Vinyl box sets occasionally have corners that are split and there may be label marks on the outer sleeves so please bear this in mind when you order. We can and will send specific photos of a record on request prior to purchase. For audiophiles we would recommend you buy re-releases elsewhere as they will be quieter than used originals but will also be far more expensive.
Play Testing
We random test each item we list for sale prior to dispatch. We use a variety of quality vintage hi-fi equipment to test the records and CDs, including Bang & Olufsen turntables, Sony and Denon turntables, Ortofon styluses, vintage amplifiers and a range of speakers including Wharfedale , B&O and Kef. Each record is visual inspected prior to playing random tracks on our turntables to check for scratches and obvious jumps.
Cleaning
Each of our records is then cleaned using a specialist record cleaning machine to deep cleanse the grooves prior to dispatch. We also wipe the outer sleeves to remove any historical marks where possible.
Packaging
For individual records we include a new, static-proof paper inner sleeve as well as a clear outer sleeve for protection. Each record has a cardboard postal box. For box-sets we choose to retain their originality as the boxes often contain multiple records and insert notes. All our records are packaged in either dedicated cardboard sleeves and for box-sets we use padded bubble wrap packaging.
Postage
Our records and CDs are all dispatched via Royal Mail. For larger orders we may use Parcel Force. We often track our packages for peace of mind.
Returns
It is always possible that we missed something and we offer a no quibble 14 day return policy if the record or CD has play issues. However it should be borne in mind that these are vintage items and not brand new and should not be expected to be perfect, particularly where a record could be 40 years old or even older. Consequently occasional crackles and pops do occasionally occur and should be expected and may not constitute a return.
